Why a self sustaining Garden?

Gardening today, can be hugely beneficial for any and every family. Just in case you have missed it, or don't look at, the cost of groceries; the prices have increased like crazy, and are on track to continue increasing. So, why not try to alleviate some of those costs, by trying to produce for yourselves. Even if all you can do is grow a few plants, that can take some load off your next few grocery bills.

I can only speak from my personal experience when it comes to gardening to provide food for myself. The bottom line is, it is tough. My wife and I both work a standard 8-5 job during the weeks, and we live a farm life. Right now we only have a single horse, but we have dreams for cows, pigs, chickens, and much more. Even with one animal currently, we have a difficult time getting to watering the garden at a consistent time every day, as we both have a 30 minute commute to work. You might think this is not a huge issue, just water the garden when you get to it. That thinking can lead to damaging the plants and producing a smaller yield.

This is why a self sustaining garden can come in handy. Now, it doesn't matter what time the garden needs something, because it can handle itself. All that is needed, is some weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting. This entire project allows anyone who has the space, to grow a garden, even if they don't have the time to water or shade it when it needs it.
